(For all of the people who actually know me- yeah, I went with a pseudonym. It’s easier, I find.)
First of all, Decibel released the dates for their inaugural tour today! Featuring Behemoth, Watain, The Devil’s Blood, and In Solitude! http://www.decibelmagazinetour.com/ (There’s a clickable link for the dates there too).
Second of all- freaking RAD. I’ve been wanting to see Behemoth live for ages, as I hear their live set is fantastic. And I’ve recently fallen in love with Watain. Every single second of Lawless Darkness is sheer perfection, I think. Don’t know much about the other two bands, but I’m always excited to learn. I will try to give them a listen this week sometime.
The date for the show is pretty much perfect- I defend my thesis the week before, my best friend’s wedding is the week after. And it’s on a Saturday (I’m headed to the St. Paul show 4/14, or at least that’s what I’m planning on for now). Soon as I get paid and figure out for sure which date we’re going to try to make, I’m getting me a ticket.
As far as other things go, I thought I’d post up the haul from Christmas. I was lucky enough to find the local FYE had their huge metal section way marked down and to score an Amazon gift card from my dad, so I accumulated a lot of music over the break. I also traded in a lot of old cds I never listen to at Hastings for a gift card for some new ones (and a calendar featuring Goats in Trees, because that’s awesome).
(L-R, top to bottom)
Immolation- Harnessing Ruin
Bathory- Blood Fire Death
Dimmu Borgir- For All Tid
I.C.S. Vortex- Storm Seeker
Arcturus- Sideshow Symphonies
Red Hot Chili Peppers- Blood Sugar Sex Magic (no, it’s not metal, but I had a burned copy and thought I’d support the band. Besides, it’s a very good album)
Behemoth- The Apostasy
Eluveitie- Everything Remains (As It Never Was)
Watain- Lawless Darkness
Emperor- In the Nightside Eclipse
I have varying degrees of love for all of them, some more than others (Bathory defeats most things by default), and I may do some reviews on them eventually. At least the newer ones. I could be convinced to do the older ones.
In other news, I wrote on Emerson’s ice-harp for environmental lit this week. I think his idea of human + environment = art is a really interesting one, and assuredly one that will make it into my final paper for that class (USBM and the environment- I’ll post updates on that one).
That’s all I really have for now, plus it’s chamomile tea time.
Later.
